After registration, about 12 people from TUF, -ss, and ET.TV went to Denny's to grab a bite to eat. Here's me at dinner after registration with some of the ET.TV guys. From left to right: 9mm Censor, Space, MattC0m, GreasedScotsman, and finally me to the far right. Unfortunately, no large size pic for this one.

Same Denny's. Second table is Sniper Steve, Lance, and StLava. Third table is SirDark and Fireborn. Rigged is hidden behind Lance's big head.

Line up for early registration on Wednesday. The line was a decent size, but as of 10 PM, it hadn't even started moving, so I binned my early registration plans and went to bed.

More of the same line. Last year, I remember people playing XBox in line. I don't remember seeing any of that this year.

I ran into some of the F8 guys coming off the elevator (Sgt Hardup, BMXer, and Shadow). I later ran into the TUF guys waiting in the registration line, though I don't remember how I recognized them. At some point, we all met up at TUF's spot in line. Here we all are. From left to right: StLava, Desolator (TUF), MattC0m, 9mm Censor, Space, ss-SirDark, ss-Fireborn, Greased Scotsman, Rigged (TUF)

The shoutcast set up. The only one missing is Space. QuakeUnity was set up across the hall to shoutcast the QuakeLive events. Unlike last year, there was no large screen for ETQW specs to watch. Maybe next year.

The uber peripherals were pretty cool. Here's an 8-monitor set up, powered by 8 ATI cards in crossfire mode. They only demo'd the flight simulator though. Would have been very cool to see a FPS in action. Would be even more cool to see a set up with a large center screen and 2-4 smaller side screens with different views.

Gaming pod by PodWombats. For a mere $2,500 (before hardware) you too can have a pod like this to play your game in total immersion. The pod cover slides open and they had on configured to play Call of Duty 4 and another set up for a flight sim. To top it off, they were running a large 3-D screen. Very cool.

amBX (Phillips) had a nice booth with 7-8 stations set up with their amBX system, which is consists of a light package, fans, a rumble pad in the wrist rest. The package provides ambiance depending on what happens in-game. For example, when you fly in the Icarus, the fans turn on and blow air in your face. Pretty cool set up. They ran Quake Wars, Call of Duty 4, Crysis, and Guitar Hero at their booth. Photo by Andrew "Jiggaman" Simons.

3-D monitor set up for a racing game in the Dell roadshow trailer. DLP had a really cool 42" monitor set up that basically allowed 2 players to play off of the same screen. That was one of the coolest innovations I saw that weekend.

Atrium of the Hilton Anatole. This is a nice hotel. I didn't have any of the problems that I experienced last year and this year I stayed in the Tower which is much closer to the BYOC than the Atrium. The hotel has a great collection of Asian art. I'll take more pictures of that next year.

How many hotels have a piece of the Berlin Wall?

T-shirt give away and the Quickdraw contest. There was much jumping and yelling all week. I managed to grab 4 QuakeCon 2008 shirts, but there always seems to be a paucity of M and S sizes and getting a woman's top is near impossible. Last year, amBX had woman's shirts in S, which my wife appreciated.

The Castle Wolfenstein girls with a little friend.

Three of the Castle Wolfenstein girls. Too bad their only job was posing in front of the trailer movie. Would have been more interesting to have a real playable demo, though maybe we'll get to see that next year. Photo by Andrew "Jiggaman" Simons.

Ventrilo Ultimate PowerUp give away and the QuakeCon girls. Gotta love the megatextures on display.

Picture of the QuakeCon girls taken by the staff photographers.

Father and son. I'll let you figure out which one is ss-Spring. mini-Spring even got to play in BYOC COD4 tournament and got in a couple of defuses.

ss-Spring and ss-SirDark waiting in line to get Spring's computer registered.

TUF playing mamut.si. It was really pretty funny to be playing this close to your competitors because everyone's still yelling into their microphones. The only difference here was that TUF was yelling in English, which the mamut players could understand. The mamut players, on the other hand, were yelling in Swedish ... which, ... well you can figure it out. Blah blah blah Cyclops! ... blah blah blah Titan!

ss playing against F8. From left to right, EssKayEss, ss-fireborn, ss-spring, and BlazenAce. This match knocked us down into the losers' bracket, where we would get knocked out by Kompaniet in Round 4.

The tournament machine I got to play on. Dell XPS with a wide screen monitor. We played the match against Kompaniet on Alienware machines with 4:3 monitors. After getting to try both set ups, I think I liked the Dell XPS's a lot more.

Nice shot of the BYOC area. Photo by Robin "robN8R" Walker.

Ducks and JRad from Splash Damage. We enjoyed a nice lunch with them on Saturday.
